Products > Brazing alloy > How to select brazing materials

Properties of the parent materials, method and cost of brazing and the following factors should be considered when selecting brazing materials:

Cost Efficiency
Although brazing is less costly with less Ag content in the brazing material, the content of Ag is crucial to the melting point and flexibility of brazing. Brazing material with too little Ag may decrease the parent metal's corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity and mechanical properties.

Melting Point
Although brazing is less costly with less Ag content in the brazing material, the content of Ag is crucial to the melting point and flexibility of brazing. Brazing material with too little Ag may decrease the parent metal's corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity and mechanical properties.

Fluidity
A filler metal of relatively high fluidity is most desirable as good fluidity and good wetting are essential in obtaining the desired combination of physical properties in the brazed joint.

Mechanical Properties
When choosing brazing alloys, the tensile strength, shear strength, electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance and arc resistance of the brazing material and parent metals should also be considered.
